Zimbabwe: Regional Leaders Fail to Caution Mugabe

Harare — Southern African leaders brushed aside pressure to reign in Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe for refusing to implement a power sharing agreement with his former rivals at a regional summit that ended on Tuesday.
Instead the leaders meeting in Windhoek, Namibia called on the international community to lift sanctions on Mr Mugabe for alleged human rights violations.
The communiqué of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit held in Windhoek, Namibia was silent on a roadmap for new Zimbabwe elections despite fierce lobbying by the veteran ruler’s coalition partners for a new poll.
