Tax amendments delayed to 2011

Amendments to the Income Tax Act and Value Added Tax Act are only expected to be effected in 2011. This is contrary to expectations created by the Minister of Finance and Development Planning Kenneth Matambo in his February budget speech, that changes would be effected at beginning of tax year in July, this year.
Officials say delay is caused by failure to conclude consultations with stakeholders in the initial timeframe envisaged.
