Media ‘crucial in SA’

A group of concerned media houses and civil society groups have joined together to fight the “draconian anti-media legislation” proposed by the ANC.
They are urging individuals and other groups to sign a petition against the ruling party’s planned media appeals tribunal and the Protection of Information Bill.
The civil society groups are the Alternative Information and Development Centre (AIDC), Anti-Privatisation Forum, Equal Education, Lesbian and Gay Equality Project (LGEP), Social Justice Coalition, Section 27, Students for Law and Social Justice, Sweat, and the Treatment Action Campaign.
