South Africa: ATM security info a free-for-all online

Want to know how the 200 cameras watching over Gauteng’s bank ATMs work? Just read it online on a government website.

About a year ago Gauteng set up a system of closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras to monitor ATMs to combat the bombings of the machines. There are now 195 cameras watching over 40 spots around Gauteng.

But the provincial government is giving the details away to anyone who browses online, by listing where all those cameras are stationed and the specifications of how the monitoring system works.
