South Africa: Still no decision on Malema

The ANC’s leadership remained locked in a meeting on Monday afternoon amid reports that ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema had been formally charged with ill-discipline.

ANC spokesman Jackson Mthembu said the officials were still meeting when contacted at about 5pm on Monday.

Another spokesman, Ishmael Mnisi earlier confirmed that the ANCYL matter was an item on the agenda of the regular officials meeting.

The league said its national working committee was in a meeting with the ruling party’s top brass.

Sunday papers reported that Malema had been charged for alleged ill-discipline and bringing the organisation into disrepute.
