Zimbabwe PM to Lobby EU over Mugabe

Nairobi — Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai will lead a high level government delegation to talks with the European Union later this month where he will campaign for the lifting of sanctions against President Robert Mugabe and his inner circle.

The trip, if successful, might finally break the logjam in the long running talks to iron out differences that have stalled the implementation of a Global Political Agreement signed by Mr Mugabe and his former arch-rivals in September 2008.

A unity government was formed last year based on the GPA, but it is struggling to gel due to a slate of outstanding issues, which include the travel embargo and asset freeze imposed on the leading figures in the previous administration.
