Govt wants efficiency in construction industry

GABORONE – Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Science and Technology says late delivery, cost over-runs and poor quality have become almost synonymous with buildings and infrastructure.

Officiating at a two-day joint seminar of the Institute of Botswana Quantity Surveyors (IBQS) and the African Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS), Mr Carter Morupisi said these problems negatively affected governments ability to deliver. He said as the construction industrys biggest client, government has an interest in the industrys ability and capacity to successfully deliver projects.
