South Africa: Woman accused of witchcraft, house burnt

An elderly Limpopo woman accused of witchcraft had her house burnt down in Magaung village at Sekororo, Maake, Limpopo police said on Monday.

A group of villagers accused the elderly woman and her daughter of practising witchcraft on Monday morning, Superintendent Ronel Otto said in a statement.

They set fire to two houses belonging to the nine-member family, forcing them to flee to a nearby police station. No one was injured.

“They were collected by family members from another village at the Maake police station on Tuesday morning and are now staying with them.”
