Govt promotes ICT-based economy

GABORONE – Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Carter Morupisi is optimistic that Botswana will tap a lot of technological skills from the visiting Japanese experts.

Speaking during a reception he hosted in honour of the Japanese experts, who have been invited to advice on the areas of research, science and technology, Mr Morupisi said the country was privileged to host high caliber experts dedicating their time for a good course.

He told his audience that the experts have come to assist Botswana to finalise the revised Science and Technology Policy, which will help transform the economy into a knowledge-based economy.

Mr Morupisi proudly noted that his ministry had made an undertaking to drive economic diversification and enhance the lives of Batswana by promoting the use and application of science and technology in all the sectors of the economy.
