Palapye set to have steel pipe factory

SEROWE – In an effort to diversify the countrys economy, Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) has financed the establishment of a steel pipe factory in Palapye, which is envisaged to create 200 jobs.

Responding to BOPA questionnaire, the corporations principal public affairs officer, Ms Boitshwarelo Lebang said clearing of the ground has commenced which will be followed by the civil engineering works (earthworks) and construction of the building.

All these will be carried out during this month and construction is expected to be completed by July 2010, she said.

Ms Lebang said Palapye was chosen due to its geographical location with access to sufficient electricity and A1 highway for ease of transport as well as access to South Africa through Martins Drift and Zambia/Zimbabwe through Francistown.
