South Africa: Zuma promises year of action

President Jacob Zuma last night promised South Africans that this year would see action from his government, with public servants – from cabinet ministers to teachers – bound by detailed agreements on what they must deliver, and by when.

His key message was that, after months of bedding down new departments and planning, his reconfigured government was ready to start delivering and getting results.

“This year, 2010, shall be a year of action,” Zuma said.
