Japan to fund P83m Gaborone solar power station

Botswana has taken strides towards ensuring sufficient electricity supply by signing Exchange of Notes with Japan for the construction of a modern solar power station in Gaborone.

The Japanese government has provided the country with a grant of 1, 11 billion Japanese yen or P83 million for the establishment of a 1 megawatt Photovoltaic (solar) power station in the nation’s capital city.

When completed the project is expected to mitigate the power shortage in the country.
