Warns them against running competitions
BTA says mobile operators can run promotions subject to Botswana laws
The government through the Ministry of Trade and Industry has written to all three mobile operators, Orange, beMobile and Mascom warning them to desist from running competitions whereby subscribers win prizes by sending messages.

However observers say that mobile operators’ licenses should allow them to have value added activities such as promotions. They say this is the norm across a number of sectors such as chain stores.
