Zimbabwe: Opposition Faction to Support Mugabe Rival

Zimbabwe’s Former Finance Minister Simba Makoni has won another major endorsement in his campaign to replace President Robert Mugabe when a faction of the country’s biggest opposition party pledged to campaign for him.

Bouyed by the defection of another key Zanu PF member, Dr Dumiso Dabengwa at the weekend, Dr Makoni upped his campaign with rallies in Bulawayo and Harare on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

In a significant development, the Professor Arthur Mutambara led faction of the MDC launched its manifesto for the 29 March general election, rallying support for Dr Makoni whom in says is the only candidate capable of winning the presidential election.
