After beavering away in his Somerset West workshop for seven years, electrician and inventor Jan Human has come up with an invention that he believes will revolutionise energy usage, cut climate-changing carbon emissions and give a major boost to the use of renewable energy.

His invention is a hybrid battery which can charge and discharge simultaneously, and which cuts energy use by up to 27 percent. It can be linked up to Eskom, solar or wind power at the same time. Because there is less resistance in his battery than in a conventional one, you save energy using power from any of the sources.

KASANE – Human Resources Manager at Chobe Safari Lodge Mr Kenneth Mukuwa says about eight chalets are closed for business due to flooding from Chobe River.
In an interview, Mr Mukuwa said the floods have affected their business as the bar at public camping site is submerged.

The business is low as compared to last year at this time, he said 76 rooms are still operating normally and are far from the risk of closure. Mr Mukuwa noted that river activities like boat cruise are operating as normal with a different experience.

We are now cruising above the game drive road in the park, and I fear of hooking on fallen trees covered by water.

He said although hippos and crocodile maroon the area at night they have not caused any damage.
