Dept fails to pay pensioners

KANYE – More than 20 pensioners in Moshupa have not received their old-age allowance since this year, a customer service assistant at Moshupa Post Office, Mr Thabo Mmutle, has revealed.

The pensioners have not been getting their benefits because the Department of Social Services in Gaborone has not given us feedback after we informed them that there is a problem of duplication of order books, he said.

Mr Mmutle, however, explained that the pensioners report to his office every month with the hope of receiving their allowances.

Furthermore, he said the affected pensioners have been patient with his office.

Meanwhile, an accountant at the Department of Social Services, Ms Kgolagano Molefhe, acknowledged the problem.
