South Africa: Stranded passengers threatened with arrest

Stranded passengers at OR Tambo International Airport were threatened with arrest this morning if they did not leave the airport.

Approximately 200 SAA passengers bound for Heathrow Airport grew angry when they were informed that there were still no planes flying out. Airport management then asked the people to leave the airport, where some people have been camping for a few days.

“They said we must go back to our hotels or another part of the airport where we won’t be visible,” said Amanda Damms, who was due to leave for the United Kingdom on April 17.

    I have a friend from Arizona that tried to fly back to USA ,and she hasn’t emailed me back . I think it’s becuase she stranded at that airport or tambo international.her name is Elizabeth preece and I wondering if there’s a way to contact her to if she’s at that airport.
