Contractor fails to complete Serowe college on time

SEROWE – The more than P135000 project of the expansion of Serowe College of Education (SCE) is yet again delayed after the contractor failed to deliver it on schedule.

The project which consists of Science and Mathematics block, Home Economics laboratory, library, performance and visual arts laboratory, physical education and sports facilities amongst others was supposed to be handed in October 2009.

After failing to deliver on time the contractor, CSC & EC (Pty) Limited, was given an extension of up to end of January but the colleges principal, Mr Caiphus Dema said it does not look like the project will be complete by then.

Mr Dema said the contractor reasoned that he met a layer of hard rock when excavating the foundations and the sourcing of the material was problematic.

Meanwhile Mr Dema confirmed that a total of 51 students from the closed Lobatse College of Education have settled well in his college.
