Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Dikgakgamatso Seretse told Parliament on Tuesday that there is no need to set up an independent inquiry to investigate the extra-judicial killings by state security forces.
He was responding to a question by Gaborone South MP, Akanyang Magama. The MP asked whether the increasing number of extra-judicial killing of suspects by state security does not necessitate an independent inquiry to restore confidence in the law enforcement agencies.

The extra judicial killings indeed expose our country in a very negative way to the entire world. Botswana is now not recognized as a shining star of democracy yet its an affiliate of many international organizations which emphasize more on the respect for human rights. Its high time action is taken to restore peace and ensurance that matters are solved within the most amiable and amicable spheres of diplomacy. I believe that our country can still obtain many accolates of respecting human rights.
