Central District due for demarcation

SEROWE – The Central District, which is the largest in Botswana, is to be divided into nine sub-districts.

Three new administrative authorities are also to be established.

Currently the council currently has as its six sub-districts as Bobirwa, Boteti, Mahalapye, Serowe/Palapye, Tonota and Tutume.

In an interview, the Central District Council’s Principal Physical Planner, Mr Tiesetso Dube said that a report submitted to the Ministry of Local Government proposing that CDC be divided into three administrative authorities and nine sub-districts, has been approved by government.

The implementation schedule for administrative centers and sub-districts will take effect this year while the anticipated date for the plan to be completed is 2016.

Mr Dube said the three new administrative authorities have been identified as Serowe, Mahalapye and Palapye.
